Volunteer of the Month – October 2018: Alison

1. What is your background (profession/ workplace/ training)?

I'm a Registered Nurse and i completed a Msc Health Promotion at Kings College London. I've recently returned home having spent the past 12 years living and working in the UK.

2. What inspired you to become a Water Well volunteer?

I'm passionate about reducing health inequalities and truly believe that The Water Well Project education sessions provide an amazing platform to connect with target groups, so that people are able to make better and more informed choices about their health.

3. Please share one of your favourite Water Well sessions or moments.

I enjoy the 'buzz' feeling you get when you feel you've really engaged with the group and feel you've done your bit to empower and increase capacity within the community groups.

4. What tips do you have for new volunteers?

I find by using the topic template/resource list as a guide to read up on the topic beforehand (if needed) but to really be guided by the group. To try and enable the group to express their own needs on the topic so they really get what they want from the experience. That way everyone is more relaxed and engaged!
