About This Event
Excited to announce our next induction session for healthcare professionals interested in becoming volunteers for The Water Well Project in Albury. Come find out about how you can contribute your skills and knowledge to help improve the health literacy of communities from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
Date: Thursday 27th June 2019
Time: 6:15pm – 8:30pm (arrive by 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start)
Venue: Lecture Theatre, UNSW Rural Clinical School, 559 East Street, East Albury, NSW 2640.
Other info: Light refreshments provided.
Note: This induction session will be via teleconference of the simultaneous induction session being held in Melbourne.
Program (TBC):
1. Introduction to The Water Well Project
2. Refugee and asylum seeker health
3. Introduction to facilitation & working with interpreters
4. Interactive workshops
5. Volunteer Q&A session
Event open to: 30 attendees (see below for eligibility criteria).
We have a long waiting list of interested volunteers, so please only sign up if you will be present for the whole session.
Eligibility criteria:
1. Be a qualified healthcare professional or final year student in a healthcare related discipline. Details of registration with AHPRA must be provided (where applicable). Please check our website for details.
2. Have, or be prepared to apply for a volunteer Working with children card.
