Implications of coronavirus (COVID-19) on The Water Well Project operations

As an organisation, The Water Well Project has a responsibility to the health and welfare of our volunteers, as well as to our community participants.

With the latest trends in coronavirus spread, we have made the difficult decision to postpone all face-to-face community sessions, to protect our healthcare professional volunteers, as well as members of our audience communities. We will be re-diverting our focus onto how we can best continue to provide community health education, which currently is needed to educate these vulnerable populations about minimising spread of infections.
We will also be postponing all induction events for intake of new volunteers.

As you are probably aware, the situation with coronavirus is still unfolding in Australia, and there are still knowledge gaps about this novel virus, including its transmission and severity. For up to date info, Australian statistics and recommendations, please refer to the Department of Health website- https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert#travellers-and-visitors. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) coronavirus (COVID-19) also makes recommendations around public gatherings: https://www.health.gov.au/news/australian-health-protection-principal-committee-ahppc-coronavirus-covid-19-statement-on-13-march-2020.

As the situation unfolds, we will revisit our stance, and make any adjustments based on the latest advice from DHHS.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dr Linny Phuong (Founder & Director), on behalf of The Water Well Project team
