Volunteer of the Month – November 2022: Natalie

1. What is your background (profession/ workplace/ training)?

Doctor in Women's Health

2. What inspired you to become a volunteer with The Water Well Project?

I had looking to do some volunteering for quite some time but hadn't found a cause I felt I really connected with and when I found the Water Well project I just really liked what they stood for and thought I would be able to put what I do in my day to day work life to good use.

3. Please share one of your favourite The Water Well Project sessions or moments.

I was doing a women's health session with another volunteer and I used the model breast that comes in the resource box by placing it on myself to demonstrate how to do a breast exam and everyone thought it was very funny and we all had a good laugh.

4. What tips do you have for new volunteers?

Just start signing up for sessions and don't be nervous about not knowing everything about that topic, most of the time I've found the groups generally just want to be able to ask questions and I have found that is a great way to guide how you run the session - just ask what they want to know and focus on that rather than exactly how the session template is set out.
