1. What is your background (profession/ workplace/ training)?
I'm a junior doctor at Monash Health currently doing general training, hoping to go into women's health.
2. What inspired you to become a Water Well volunteer?
Peer pressure! Jk jk. I kept meeting other junior docs who volunteered with or knew of Water Well and everyone spoke so glowingly of their experiences, I just had to join! It's easy with work to lose sight of the rewarding aspects of med and Water Well reminds me why I wanted to join this profession and help build a healthy empowered community
3. Please share one of your favourite Water Well sessions or moments.
At one of the women's health sessions, we found ourselves with a surprisingly large and multilingual group. I was worried it would become a boring lecture type presentation, but soon the women were sharing their experiences, encouraging each other to speak up and asking questions despite language and cultural barriers. So heartwarming!
4. What tips do you have for new volunteers?
Expect the unexpected!
